Pressures of rapid population increase, urbanization and lack of awareness about environmental issues have led to increased environmental degradation in our Hue City. There are many serious problems emerging in the city such as waste, sewage, plant disappearing, disordered advertisement boards, and roadway and roadside encroaching and that needs a serious consideration. These are main issues to be mentioned and discussed on the mass media in recent years.
Recent days, the city Administration has organized conferences on city environmental and community health problems and these issues have been prioritized to be addressed. In addition, youth women unions and others associations have participated in and supported this agenda by undertaking green volunteering campaigns over the last years. For example, youth union of High Schools often organize summer holiday volunteering campaigns in order to collect rubbishes on Huong River and takes care plants at Parks. Therefore, the green, clean and beautiful environmental issue has been appealing and receiving much attention from the public at Hue City.
To be able to deal with the problem and keep Hue as a green, clean and beautiful city, it is very important and necessary to carry out a project to a collective work. This project aims to create a space in which every people can come and share their thoughts about the city environmental issues and building specific groups based on their desirable and concerns. The groups will be trained essential basic knowledge which needs for their activities. Each group will then work in partnership with youth union, women union, the city authority, and negotiate with concern households in order to generate specific action plans and agendas to deal with specific problems. In first project stage, raising awareness of environmental issues for community will be focused. This will be done via organizing meetings on clean, green and beautiful environmental keeping and providing leaflets to each household. It is expected that the project will have groups following as:
- Group 1: Reordering advertisement boards-RAB group;
- Group 2: Collecting rubbish and cleaning street-CRCS group; and
- Group 3: Upgrading sewage processing system- USPS group.
